Afstudeerstage Chemie Corrosion resistance of electroformed nozzle plates

Veco solves our customer’s design challenges by pushing the boundaries in micro fabrication of high precision metal parts. We do this by electroforming, photo-etching and laser machining on an industrial scale. Veco's core competences are know-how in photolithography, electroforming, photo-etching and laser machining. In-house process engineering and R&D, extensive application know-how, high volume production abilities at very high precision in reproducible processes, extensive clean room facilities (>2000 m2), fully automated inspection equipment are available. Markets served worldwide: medical instruments, automotive, flow control, motion control, filtration, shaver foils, semiconductor-, electronics- and sugar industry.


Purpose of this project is to improve corrosion resistance of electroformed nozzle plates and therefore the biocompatibility to enhance the application of Veco’s nozzle plates in a broad range of drug delivery. This will be done by a design of experiment on the electroforming process parameters which define the microstructure of the material and its corrosion properties.

The project might include:

  • literature study on optimizing corrosion resistance of electroformed materials;
  • design of Experiment (DoE) on the electroforming process;
  • post processing on electroformed material;
  • determining corrosion properties of electroformed material using electrochemical techniques.


We are looking for a physics/chemistry/optics student looking for a challenging assignment.
